With Nomad Naviplouf, you bring home a cheerful twist on the classic Battleship. This version is specially designed for young players. Two captains face off in a clever yet easy-to-understand naval battle. Thanks to the simplified coding with animals and colors – such as whale/blue instead of squares like B3 – children can join in right away from a young age. The magnetic boards, ships, and markers provide a tangible, playful experience that you’ll want to set up on the table again and again.
What makes Nomad Naviplouf so fun is the combination of accessible rules, short playing time, and an exciting search-and-guess game. You and your opponent try to find, hit, and ultimately sink each other's ships through targeted questions. This results in a mix of tension, strategy, and enjoyment, all in a form that remains super fun and clear for children.
In Nomad Naviplouf, your goal is simple yet exciting: to be the first to sink all the opponent's ships. Both you and your opponent have your own magnetic board with squares on which you keep track of the other's attacks. On a separate model card, it is clearly indicated where your ships are located – so which squares your opponent must guess to hit your fleet.
During the game, you try step by step to discover where your opponent’s ships are hidden. You do this by naming combinations of symbol (for example whale) and color (for example blue). The answers “Overboard…”, “Hit…”, or “Hit, sunk…” tell you exactly whether you missed, hit a ship, or even sunk one completely. This creates an exciting tactical children's game in which kids ask questions, draw conclusions, and come closer to victory with every turn.
Before starting, both players place a magnetic board in front of them. In addition, you receive a model card showing the location of your five ships. You keep this card secret from your opponent, as it shows exactly which ships they must find to sink your fleet. The red and blue markers and the ships remain in the box until needed during the game.
The youngest player starts and asks the first question. You choose a combination, for example “whale / blue,” and say it out loud to your opponent. They look at their own model card and check whether there is a part of a ship on that square. If there is nothing, they answer “Overboard…” and you place a blue marker on the whale/blue square on your magnetic board so you know there is no ship to look for there. If there is a ship, they say “Hit…” and you place a red marker on that square. In that case, you may immediately name a new combination and continue searching for the rest of that ship.
If your shot is the final hit on a ship that consists of one or more squares, you hear “Hit, sunk…”. You then take the related ship and place it on the whale/blue square (or the correct square) on your board so you can clearly see which ship has been sunk. After that, you calmly continue to explore the sea by choosing a new combination of animal and color. This creates a constant back-and-forth of clever questions, exciting hits, and cheering moments when another ship disappears to the bottom.
Players take turns: after your question and the corresponding answer, it is your opponent's turn to guess on your board. You keep playing until one player manages to sink all five ships of the opponent. That player wins the game and can call themselves the Grand Admiral of Nomad Naviplouf. Thanks to the short playing time of about ten minutes, it is an ideal quick family game that you can easily play again.
